Eloping can be one of the most exciting ways to tie the knot. Especially when you get to have nature as your venue! Washington is an ideal destination for couples dreaming of a stress-free and scenic elopement. From the serene shores of Puget Sound to the rugged beauty of the North Cascade mountains, your options are endless. Washington really has everything. Whether you want to hold your private vows in the dense evergreen forest or cut your cake on the shores of an alpine, Washington is the place for epically romantic elopements!
Now, with all the options available to you, you might wonder how you could ever pick the best location. I've got you covered! Here are some of the best locations to consider for your Washington elopement!
The National Parks
Washington is home to three national parks, each jaw-dropping and versatile. From rocky mountain ranges to coastal beaches to rainforests to mountain wildflower meadows. There are so many stunning places to choose from.
The North Cascades // Mount Baker Snoqualmie forest
The North Cascades and the Mount Baker Snoqualmie Forest are in the same general region so I like to lump them together! Though they will have different permit requirements. This mountain range is my favorite in Washington. This region is one of the most beautiful places in the United States. And shockingly, one of the least visited National Parks — which proves to be a huge plus because you will fight crowds less at this national park than at the others.
Artist Point - The views from Artist Point are indescribable. Nestled at the end of Mount Baker Highway, this alpine haven offers panoramic views of the snow-capped Mount Baker and the dramatic, jagged peaks of Mount Shuksan. Whether blanketed in summer wildflowers, covered in fall foliage, or under a fresh layer of snow, the natural beauty of Artist Point provides a perfect backdrop for exchanging vows. You can hike along accessible trails to find a secluded spot, ensuring their ceremony feels private and personal. Or you can stand on the open rocky ridges for the best dramatic views. With its sweeping vistas, pristine mountain air, and tranquil atmosphere, Artist Point is a magical elopement location.
Heather Meadows/Bagley Lakes - Eloping at Heather Meadows in Washington is a dreamy choice. Near the base of Mount Baker, Heather Meadows is the definition of stunning alpine scenery, with crystal-clear mountain lakes and meadows bursting with wildflowers in the summer. In the fall, the area has vibrant fall colors. The area has many accessible trails. Picture Lake is nearby and another great place for an elopement ceremony as Mount Shuksan drapes over the lake.

Diablo Lake - Eloping at Diablo Lake in Washington offers a stunning and unique setting for couples seeking fun adventures. In the heart of the North Cascades, Diablo Lake is renowned for its striking turquoise waters. The lake provides a dramatic and serene backdrop for private vows, your first kiss, and wedding portraits. Whether you choose to exchange vows at an overlook like the Diablo Lake Vista Point or along one of the peaceful trails that hug the shoreline, the area's untamed beauty ensures your elopement feels magical and deeply connected to nature. With opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and even kayaking, an elopement at Diablo Lake offers so much for eloping couples. No matter what, you have to go here at some point in your life!
Washington Pass Overlook - Perched at the crest of the North Cascades Highway, this stunning location offers panoramic views of deep valleys and the winding roadway below. The Liberty Bell Mountain and the sheer cliffs of Early Winters Spires offer unforgettable views. Whether at sunrise, when the mountains are bathed in golden light, or during sunset, when the sky erupts with color, eloping at Washington Pass Overlook is a must-see in the Cascades.
OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK
I love this national park because it honestly has everything. Lowland turquoise lakes, sandy beaches with larger-than-life rock formations, dense rainforest, and an unbelievable mountain range. Here are some of the best places to elope in the park. I think everyone should spend a week here, just exploring!
Lake Crescent - This glacial lake is STUNNING, surrounded by endless trees and towering mountains. Just picture dreamy turquoise crystal waters. Lake Crescent is surrounded by many trails that lead to locations such as Maymere Falls and Devil's Punchbowl. You really get a little taste of everything. You can exchange vows on the shore or the docks, frolic through the forest trails, and even go for a swim.
Ruby Beach, Rialto Beach, or La Push - The Olympic National Park has some of my favorite beaches. Each of these beaches offers incredible sunrises and sunsets. The light rays that emerge as the sun rises or sets among the rocky boulders are incredibly spectacular. And even when it's not sunny (which it's the PNW, so it often isn't), you'll find that the moody and misty vibes are equally as desirable. (Like you'll probably run into Edward Cullen out there)
Peep below for some inspo from a session at Ruby Beach!
Hurricane Ridge - Just picture being surrounded by mountains and saying "I do" in a field of wildflowers or surrounded by vibrant fall colors. And you barely have to step out of the parking lot. This mountain location is open year-round and offers a new kind of beauty with each season. Hurricane Ridge provides panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, lush valleys, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca stretching toward Canada. The ridge’s easily accessible viewpoints and quiet trails allow you to find the perfect spot for an intimate ceremony.
Hoh Rainforest - (hoa, hoa, hoa, hoa song playing in your head). You don't even need to be a Twilight fan to recognize how EPIC this forest really is. If saying your vows underneath deep green foliage is your dream, look no further. This temperate rainforest is renowned for its lush greenery and ancient trees that almost feel otherwordly! And on a sunny day, with the sunlight leaking through the trees *chef's kiss*. And on a foggy day, some mystical magic occurs — it's what everyone pictures when you hear "Pacific Northwest." It's accessible year-round, which is another major plus.
MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK
There is a reason that Mount Rainier is well known throughout the United States. This place is a year-round magnet for people from all over the country. Fun fact, the first elopement I ever did was at Mount Rainier for a couple from Georgia! The glacier lakes and alpine flower meadows are my favorite places to visit within the park. Mount Rainier is also close to many cute A-frame cabins, which make great lodging and getting-ready spots!
Tipsoo Lake - There are many reasons why Tipsoo Lake very well could be my favorite spot at Mount Rainier. And eloping at Tipsoo Lake in Washington can be a truly magical experience. Tipsoo Lake is an alpine lake located at an elevation of over 5,000 feet and on a clear day reflects Mount Rainier. During the summer, the area is covered with wildflowers. In the fall, autumn colors are everywhere. The nearby Naches Peak Loop trail is also a favorite, providing breathtaking views and secluded spots for a private ceremony or post-elopement adventure. Sunrise and sunset are my favorite times of day at Tipsoo. It's just the perfect nature venue for your elopement.
Sunrise - The Sunrise area of Mount Rainier is the highest area in the park accessible by car. So when I tell you that you are going to get some crazy views, I mean it. Starting at the Sunrise Visitor Center, you can follow trails to the right that take you through the meadows that wind right up against the mountain, or you can follow trails to the left that lead you through tall trees to a sweeping view of the mountain range. You don't have to walk far to find these AMAZING backdrops.
Paradise - I mean, it's in the name. This place is PARADISE. When most people picture Mount Rainier, this is the place they picture! Paradise is definitely a choose your own adventure. With trails for the most daring and adventurous hikers to those looking to spend some time taking in the mountain's beauty. The Myrtle Falls Trail and the Nisqually Vista Trail are my personal favorites for eloping couples. Both offer clear views of Mount Rainier and showcase both summer wildflowers and fall leaves, depending on the season. The Myrtle Falls Trail leads you to one of my favorite waterfall views (check out the picture below). And both trails are in close range — we can explore both during your elopement day!
Here are a few more Mount Rainier places to consider!
- Reflection Lakes
- Silver Falls
- Little Tipsoo Lake
Deception Pass State Park
While the National Parks are STUNNING, they can attract crowds. Especially on the weekends. So, if you are looking for a location with amazing cliffside forests and coastal views but fewer crowds, Deception offers many options for ceremony locations and activities!
Deception Pass is known for it's rocky beaches, towering bridge, and dramatic cliffs. This location offers so much variety for elopements. Running around the beach in your wedding dress, kissing in the middle of the bridge, or exploring the cliffside views. This area also has pavilions to rent if you want family/friends to join you. Below are my favorite spots at Deception Pass!
- Rosario Beach
- Bowman Bay
- Deception Pass Bridge
- North Beach
- West Beach
North Bend/Snoqualmie
Oh, how I love this area! I love it for elopements, I love it for engagement sessions, and I love to visit here with my family. This area isn't far from Seattle but has takes you deep into nature with beautiful waterfalls and mountain lakes and peaks surrounded by trees. These area are near the cute town of Snoqualmie where you can grab a scoop of ice cream or stroll down the main city street after your ceremony! There are also many Airbnbs in the area, perfect for lodging, getting ready, and detail photos.
Below are some of my favorite locations in this area!
- Rattlesnake Lake
- Middlefork Snoqualmie Trail
- Franklin Falls
- North Bend/Snoqualmie Cabin Airbnbs
...And soooooo many more!
This really just is the tip of the iceberg. There are never-ending options for gorgeous locations in Washington for elopements. Here are some other areas of Washington to consider when planning your PNW elopement!
